Founder and President
For nearly a half a century, Antonio has been collecting, importing, and restoring fine period antiques. He founded Antonio's Antiques in 1960, and has been its creative force ever since. In the global antiques community he is known as the Master, both for his eye in selecting period antiques and his genius for restoring them. And he is affectionately called the industry's global ambassador, as he often donates priceless antiques to the museums of the world.
Gallery Director
Paul, a sixth generation native Californian, attended the University of California and degreed in clinical psychology. Upon graduation, however, it was the lure of international trade that captivated Paul's imagination. Forgoing a career in psychology, the 23 year old Paul began employment at one of the world's largest international auction houses. Although apprenticeship began by unpacking, waxing, and polishing antique furniture, his fascination with antiques was immediate and powerful. Not surprisingly, Paul rapidly ascended the ranks. He wound up creating and directing many of the departments that still flourish there today. Since those days, Paul has established himself as an author and lecturer on subjects such as furniture, painting and ethnographic art. Paul joined the prestigious Antonio's Antiques fifteen years ago. And it is his vast knowledge of the business, coupled with Antonio's massive collection of world-class antiques, that has attracted the world's leading interior designers, architects, and private collectors. And when you visit Antonio's Antiques, Paul Novak is the one person you'll certainly want to speak with.
